Band recognized

The Falls High Band Monday earned a superior rating for its full band performance at the Section 7A Music Contest in Virginia. The superior rating was awarded by all three judges.

Violet’s Floyd

Chapter 1 Floyd was the third child of Orrah and Violet Kielczewski, he was born in a cabin on Stokes Bay which is on the northeast end of Rainy Lake. Floyd’s dad, Orrah, was born in Bryant, Wis., in July of 1900.

City hears reports

The International Falls City Council heard the following reports when it met Feb. 22: City Attorney Steve Shermoen, 2021 year-end report: In 2021, performed 843.6 total hours of legal work with 189.5 hours consisting of meetings and civil matters and 654.1 hours of work on criminal cases.

Friday, March 4 15 years ago VNP Offers Snowshoe Adventure: Venture onto the Kabetogama Peninsula on snowshoes while searching for evidence of wildlife with Voyageurs National Park Education Specialist, Teri Tucker. Participants will learn about current research in the park and should meet at the Black Bay Ski Trail entrance.

SPORTS NOTEBOOK

The International Falls boys swimming and diving team participated in the Section 6A finals on Saturday in Grand Rapids. Senior Adrion Mannausau got the day started by placing 3rd in the diving competition and qualified for the state meet. After the meet, Mannausau said there was a dive that turned his meet around.
