Pavleck will not seek reelection

Koochiching County Commissioner Wade Pavleck announced today he would not seek reelection to the District 1 commissioner position he’s held for 30 years. Pavleck said he wanted to let people know as soon as he’d made the decision not to seek another term to allow potential candidates to consider throwing their hat into the ring May 17, when the filing period opens.

Trailer court to get update, upgrade

Now branded NorthernSkys Rainy River, International Falls, the existing trailer court on Rainy River will be updated and upgraded into a top-quality camp-ground resort for families to visit and use from May-October each year, said Joe Swanson chair of Northern Skys.com, an RV campsite and resort company.

John Franklyn Frederickson

John Franklyn Frederickson was born to Margaret and Franklyn Frederickson on March 12, 1935 at the Midway Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was soon followed by the addition of his siblings Kay, Bob, Jean and Will. Because his father’s work as a forester required frequent family moves, John spent his childhood in various places in the northern Midwest including Huron, SD and Deer River, MN. In 1947, when Frank was hired by the Mando Paper Company, the family settled in International Falls. This would be John’s home base for the remainder of his life.
