No redistricting in Kooch

The results of the 2020 census show the population of St. Louis County increased by five people in the last 10 years. Yet there was enough of a movement of population within the county to require minor shifts in boundaries for several of the county’s seven commissioner districts.

Violet’s Floyd

Violet’s Floyd Chapter 8 In the fall, the Kielczewski family-built doghouses on the trap line; they had hay beds and hung burlap over the doors. Floyd testified that five dogs made a nice team; they made dog food out of bran shorts, fat and fish then froze it to take along on the trap line.

VNP: Kettle Falls portage plan

All vessels crossing the Kettle Falls Portage from Rainy Lake to Namakan Lake will be decontaminated by trained staff beginning May 13, reports Voyageurs National Park staff. Superintendent Bob DeGross spoke to the Koochiching County Board April 12 about the plan, which is in response to the discovery of zebra mussel veligers, or larvae, in Rainy Lake’s Black Bay in late 2021.
