Water plant ready for worst case

Many of us should have slept better knowing measures were being taken avoid risking the safety of the International Falls Water Treatment Plant as flood waters nearby raised. “If the worst-case scenario would have happened, it would have been catastrophic: We wouldn’t’ have been able to make water,” explained Inter national Falls Public Works Director Ted Brokaw.

Anderson heads to state

Bronco Kelby Anderson will play in the state golf meet on June 14 and 15. She entered the second round of the Section 7AA golf tournament at The Quarry in Biwabik on Thursday, June 2, with a 5 shot lead after shooting an 89 on Tuesday.

Holens share life in the theater

Rick and Anne Holen have spent a lifetime gathering experiences, most of which surround the theater. “It all started with a kiss,” explains the back of Anne Kojola Holen’s book, “A Lifetime in Costuming and the Theater.” That sentiment is supported in Rick Holen’s book, “Our Life in the Theater: Thoughts and Memories of Two Theatre Designers for Half of a Century.” The first page of his book is a photo of the couple walking together taken “the very moment that I asked Anne to marry me,” July 4, 1972, shot by a theater company photographer outside Theatre L’Home Dieu, Alexandria, Minn.
