Greta Marie Hemstad, age 83, of International Falls, passed away in her home on June 19, 2022. Greta was born on December 31, 1938 in Montevideo, Minnesota.

The Range Association of Municipalities and Schools (RAMS) has been advocating for the communities of the Taconite Assistance Area (TAA) in northern Minnesota for over 80 years. The calm and quick reactions of two Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office staff were recognized with a lifesaving award presented at the Koochiching County Board meeting Tuesday. E911 Operator Billy Bright and Deputy Dustin Hell received the lifesaving award for their response to an emergency 911 call at 1 a.m.
A long time in the making, what will be Koochiching County’s only overpass is in its first phase. Last week, crews worked to bury utilities, construct a bypass road, and raise and lengthen approaches to accommodate the construction of an overpass at the rail tracks on County State Aid Highway 24, also known as the Van Lynn Road.
