Friday, June 24 15 years ago Rendezvous Yacht Club kicked off their Saturday Series with the Sandpoint Island race. Ron Bowman won the race beating out Quinn McCarthy.

RRCC announces Dean’s List

The Rainy River Community College’s Dean’s List for Spring semester 2022 has been announced by Director of Operations Bradley Krasaway. Students who receive this honor earned a grade point average of 3.25 or higher for the semester in college courses and carried at least 12 credits. The students listed with an asterisk before their names achieved a 4.00 grade point average.

Vaping and enforcement

A presentation on youth vaping to the Falls School Board in April offered ideas for solutions and resources to help students addicted to nicotine. Taylour Blakeman, American Lung Association, presented the information on behalf of KAPE, Koochiching Area Prevention in Education, told the board 15 tobacco violations involving vaping devices occurred at Falls High School this past school year.

Falls council reiterates fire rules

The International Falls City Council Monday adopted the Minnesota Uniform Fire Code, which lays out the rules and regulations associated with having a recreational fire in the city limits. Some residents may be surprised to find out they don’t have a lot large enough to have to accommodate some of the requirements: • The fire must be located on the owner’s own property and a minimum of 25 feet from all property lines; • Recreational fires shall not be constructed within 25 feet of any structure.

Rainy River men’s basketball coach Bill Engel completed the 930-mile Race Across the West on Saturday with 94 minutes to spare as he averaged 10.27 miles per hour for the over 90 hours of competition.
