Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz officially signed into law HF5 on Friday, March 17, which would ensure free school meals for students. This will guarantee that all students, regardless of their family’s need, will receive food during the school day to fuel their education. Minnesota is the fourth state in the country to enact this program!

Lives will be saved by the decision announced March 29 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to allow over the counter sales without a prescription of Narcan, the drug that reverses the effects of opioid overdose.
More details have been provided about the 40-bed jail approved for construction in a last week’s unanimous vote by the Koochiching County Board. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2024 with the new jail opening early in 2026.
The Aitkin-Itasca-Koochiching Community Health Board will meet on April 13 at the Itasca Resource Center in Grand Rapids. The Board works with its member counties to provide support for Public Health initiatives and administrative services for state and federal grant funds. All meetings are open to the public.
