Get ready to get colorful
A family-fun event will return to Smokey Bear Park on Labor Day, and participants should get ready to get colorful.The Rainy Lake Medical Center Foundation will host the second annual Color 5k to promote health and wellness and support new technology, patient services and more at Rainy Lake Medical Center.“We are thrilled to unite our community for the annual Color 5k,” said Mickie Olson, RLMC director of marketing and foundation.
Rainy Lake above rule curve
As of July 19, Namakan Lake is 18.1 inches (46 cm) above its rule curve for this time of year and 6.9 inches (17.6 cm) above its All-Gates Open level, reports the Water Levels Committee of the International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board.Rainy Lake is 2.4 inches (6 cm) above its rule curve for this time of year and 3.6 inches (9.2 cm) below its All-Gates Open level.The July 12 post from the committee, that includes the status of dam gates, remains current:Rainy Lake rose above its upper rule curve water level on July 8 due to continued rainfall events and high inflows to the lakes.Dam operators continue to pass the maximum outflow through the International Falls/Fort Frances dam by directing flow through the turbines and opening the maximum possible number of gates corresponding to the changing lake level.
