Renee Lunzer was sworn in last week as the ninth postmaster of the International Falls Post Office since 1947.She’s worked for the United States Postal Service for 5 years, with training to for the Falls postmaster position at Walker, Hackensack, Washkish and Littlefork.

L-BF volleyball

The Littlefork-Big Falls Viking volleyball team got the win Monday at Deer River in Round 1 in the 7A Section playoffs.The Vikings battled it out for four sets, to win over the Warriors 3-1 (25-18, 12-25, 25-21, 25-2).Defensively, the Vikings were led by KoDee Gustafson in digs with 14, Anissa Wimmer got six, and Ellie Wendt got five.In set assists, KamBree Gustafson led with 11 and was followed by Miley Davis who had eight.Anissa Wimmer had a dominant performance offensively with 13 kills, and Miley Davis and KamBree Gustafson led in ace serves with both getting four, and Anissa Wimmer getting three.Compiled by KGHS/KSDM Radio.

Feedback positive on roundabout

The first roundabout constructed in Koochiching County seems to have the desired effect.The roundabout on Highway 53 at the Highway 332 crossing, south of International Falls, was constructed to help safely ease truck traffic across Highway 53.Kevin Nagurski, owner of Nagurski Transportation, International Falls, said the roundabout appears to be successful.“I am glad they put it in,” he said.He said he was in favor of constructing the roundabout when it was first proposed for what he called a potentially very dangerous intersection.Nagurski estimated his trucks cross the intersection from 25 to 50 times each day.
