Rainy River celebrates graduation

Minnesota North College Rainy River will celebrated graduation Friday.Of the graduates at Rainy River, 69 will receive awards and 123 will receive certificates.Mike Raich, Minnesota North College president providing the commencement address and the conferring of degrees, with Allen Rasmussen speaking on behalf of the Rainy River Community College Foundation, and congratulating graduates.

Frozen lake plan up for comment

A plan that will guide use of the ice-covered lakes in Voyageurs National Park will be available for review and comment in June.In addition, the plan is the focus of two in-person workshops in International Falls June 12, and Kabetogama June 13, and a virtual meeting June 10.The National Park Service is providing early notification for the public scoping period for park’s Frozen Lake Use Plan, on which “the NPS requests your feedback on preliminary alternatives that will be further refined and analyzed in an Environmental Assessment,” park official said in a news statement.The 30-day public scoping period for the Frozen Lake Use Plan starts May 28 and ends June 28.

Kalar to perform with local band

Bobby Kalar will return to his hometown to perform with Deep Tracks band, made up of local musicians Eric Kulig and Scott Askey.Kalar and Deep Tracks, a classic rock band, will perform May 24 at The Salty Jester in downtown International Falls and May 25 at Ash Ka Nam Resort, on the Ash River Trail.
