Sanford to expand services

Sanford Health is in the process of expanding its staff to provide home health care and hospices services access Koochiching Country.An April 24 letter to the Koochiching County Board from Ashley Gagola, director of Home- and Community-Based services at Sanford Health, Bemidji, said Sanford is coordinating and hiring the caregivers and staff it would need to provide home health and hospice services across the county.The action was prompted by an invitation to meet with the board and a request that Sanford considering expanding its services to fill a void left with the closure of another service providers.“Through our current home health coverage in the area and our Good Samaritan Society senior community in International Falls, Sanford Health has a longstanding commitment to the health and well-being of our neighbors living in Koochiching County,” Gagola wrote.A timeline is not yet know, but Gagola said Sanford intends to begin serving the county as soon as the process is complete.

The Borealis Bards, the theater program associated with Backus Community Center, will present the musical, “Is There a Doctor in the House?” as its spring production May 23 and 24.The musical will take place on the main stage of Backus Community Center at 900 Fifth St., International Falls.
