IFFSC marks 50 years of ice shows

International Falls has a long history with figure skating.The International Falls Figure Skating Club will recognize its own history March 23 and 24 with “50 and Fabulous: Celebrating 50 years of memories.”Shows are at Bronco Arena at 6:30 p.m.

Quest for 200 mph realized

The sun started coming up over Rainy Lake in International Falls on the morning of March 9, and there was something in the air that gave you the sense that something special was about to take place.That something special was Chris Baynes being the first snowmobile driver in history to eclipse the 200 mph barrier in 1, 000 feet with a run of 202.33 mph backed up by a 201.70 mph run.

Chamber voices border station plan concerns

A plan to construct a $28 million border crossing station in International Falls will be presented to businesses and the public March 19, in meetings organized by the International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.The information about the project will be presented by staff of the General Services Administration, which acts as the federal government’s procurement agency.A 9 a.m.
