On Sunday, Minnesota North College Rainy River mens team took home the trophy in the Region XIII Championship game against RiverlandThey now head to the national tournament in New York.Despite being down Sunday at halftime 37-46, the Voyageurs closed out their season with a huge 75-73 win.The team was led by Malik Siggers who scored an overall total of 53 points combined with 26 of those points being scored in the Sunday championship game.Tyrecke Francois finished the weekend with 38 total points, and 17 of those points being scored on Saturday against Rochester.Christian Pujals finished the playoff weekend close behind with a total of 37, his highest scoring game also came against Rochester with 16 points.The playoffs began with a win over St.

Rainy River baseball

Rainy River baseball starts March 8 against Minnesota West and coach Josh Koenig looks forward to the season.Koenig, with Minnesota North College Rainy River for 15 years, along with Itasca Coach Josh Lampa, with Itasca for 27 years, are the most tenured coaches in the conference and the only coaches to have been with their current college for over a decade.Koenig said the team has played together before.

Viking’s Knaeble:1,000 point club

AJ Knaeble, a junior at Littlefork-Big Falls High School, joined the L-BF Vikings 1,000-point club on March, in the win against Cook County.Prior to this game, AJ needed 33 points to reach the goal.“I was nervous going into the game,” he said.

Revival volleyball

The Northern Revival 17’s was in Wisconsin Dells for the Mizuno Showcase where they ended up taking third in the gold club division.This is the highest finish a team from the northland has had in a long time at this tournament, reports Rob Hering, Northern Revival coach and assistant director.The girls went 5-3 on the Friday through Sunday tournament, losing the game to go to the championship.

There was a lot of activity at Kerry Park Arena and around the community thanks to players and their families at the 2024 PWA North regional tournament.Ben Sunne caught some of the action.
