Tree traditions

What started as a windbreak for a local family more than 30 years ago has become a Christmas tradition for many Borderland families and students over the years.Saunders U-Cut Tree Farm, owned and operated by Pam and Gary Saunders on Town Road 208, is now for many a place to kick off the holidays and come home with a Christmas tree.This year is no different.Katie Winkel’s fourth grade class at Falls Elementary School last week visited the tree farm, making a group effort at cutting a tree and sharing some photos.This year’s fourth graders are part of a tradition that started when teacher Kevin Erickson taught fourth grade and asked if he could bring his class.

Cemetery’s Holiday Wreath project successful

Board Members of the Forest Hill Cemetery Association recently completed what they hope will be the first Holiday Wreath fundraising project.Fifty fresh balsam wreaths were offered for sale to provide a way for families to remember their loved ones at Forest Hill during the winter months.
