The Falls International Airport has been the focus of discussion among the governments of its co-owners, International Falls and Koochiching County, as they work to finalize the 2024 budget and levies.The Falls City Council took action at its council meeting Monday to draft a letter to the Koochiching County Board informing it that the city may fund just half of the anticipated amount for 2024 and may not fund it at all in following years.The exact wording of the letter was unavailable Monday; it was expected to be written this week, with councilors to consider it prior to being sent.Mayor Harley Droba and other councilors reiterated a concern about the funding formula outlined for the airport in a joint powers agreement that calls for half the airport operations to be paid for by each the city and county governments.
