Question: I notice a lot of people walking and running along the highway. The thing that concerns me is that they are moving in the same direction of traffic with their back to the potential hazard. Can you talk about pedestrian safety and what people should do when on the highway?
Churches and preachers
Religious endeavors began in the community of Koochiching prior to the turn of the century; in fact, the first Sunday school started in early July of 1899, there were 18 enrolled. The Baptists kept the school going, even holding the first Sunday school picnic in August of 1900 and later that year the Presbyterian Church organized the Junior Christian Endeavor. The Presbyterians were firmly established in Fort Frances and helped the group in the Falls. The Baptist Sunday School group eventually led to the first formal church in June of 1903.
Aili set for Beargrease
Erin Aili, the 2021 John Beargrease Dog Marathon champion, and other mushers are expected to start the 40th anniversary of the race from a new location due to quickly melting snow this week.

Local northland coffee club attendees usually include mostly-retired businessmen and professionals who often share long-term outdoor interests. Recent gathering included historical firearms discussion. When judged appropriate, this old outdoor adventurer reported that he had “shot out” a 12-gauge Belgium Browning A-5 shotgun after some 40 years of heavy-duty service and then had to find a replacement. Ruined A-5 report drew attention, raised eyebrows and elicited further discussion and memories.
