Joe’s ruminations V In the winter Joe’s Canadian neighbors would travel the river on the ice and their horses had sleigh bells on them, he related that you could year them coming for miles He remembered there were quite a few horses and cutters across the river, and they had robes and foot warmers. Saturday nights was when you could hear the bells as they were on their way to town or a dance at a school house, he added that on his side of the River for years no one had horses.

RLMC names new CFO

Rainy Lake Medical Center officials this week announced the hire of Craig Boyer as the organization’s chief financial officer, or CFO. Boyer, a native of Bemidji, brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare finance leadership, most recently having served as CFO of a six-hospital health system in Montana for more than three years.

Bantam, Peewee As advance

The International Falls Bantam A team beat Rock Ridge 4-3 on Sunday in Virginia to advance to the Region Tournament in Thief River Falls March 3-5. The team lost the first game on Saturday to Rock Ridge 8-1 with William Yerxa netting the lone goal.

Milo S. Larson 86, of International Falls, Minnesota, died on February 7, 2023, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth MN.

The world became brighter, sweeter, and a little more quirky after Isaac Kane Dahlvang entered into it on February 13, 1992. We are deeply grieved to announce his passing at 31 years of age, on February 11, 2023, in Seattle, Washington, the place he called home.

GERALD ”JERRY” FRANK

Gerald “Jerry” Frank, age 90 years of International Falls, died on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Rainy Lake Medical Center. He was born on May 26, 1932, in Pelland Junction, Minnesota, the son of William and Eva (Braford) Frank. He grew up in the Falls with his siblings, brothers Billy and Don; and sisters, Karen, Janet, and Linda. Jerry attended Holler School, Backus Jr. High and graduated from Falls Sr. High School in 1950.

Robert Dean “Bob” House, age 65, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, February 15th, 2023. He was born in International Falls, Minnesota on September 17th,1957 to George and Delores (Espe) House.
