Engagement doesn’t ease infidelity fears

Dear Amy: I am engaged to marry a wonderful man who treats me like a queen. I do not have any evidence of infidelity, but he is a naturally private person, and I harbor fear that he may have another woman on the side – not so much sexually as emotionally.

Wayne Oliver Skoe, 69, of Northome, MN died on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Northome Public School in Northome, MN with Pastor Luke Berntson officiating. Two vie for seat on board

Two candidates will seek the Koochiching County District 3 commissioner position in an April 11 election. Brian McBride, former Koochiching County commissioner, and Adam McIntyre have filed for the potion.

Gloria Reuter, 96, was born June 20, 1926, in Cloquet, Minnesota to Fred McBride and Lydia Roberson. She died February 6, 2023 in International Falls.

Falls considers leasing vehicles

The city of International Falls will consider leasing its vehicles to save money and address supply chain delays. The council agreed Monday to begin the paperwork with Enterprise Leasing toward a contract for vehicles for its departments.

Joe’s ruminations

Joe Mannausau was 16 and wanted to buy a bicycle. One morning he got up early and walked to Loman He asked for a job at Camp Six where they sorted logs for the pulp mill in International Falls but was told he was too young by the camp foreman, as he sat mulling the over rejection the foreman returned asking if he would hoe and weed their garden, he jumped at it.

A bitterly cold Sunday, 8 a.m.

I couldn’t sleep last Saturday night due to anxiety caused by rewinding various lowlights of my long life that hit me like a brick and I lay in bed and watched the hours go by as I contemplated my imminent demise leaving my dependents impoverished and homeless so when the day dawned I put on a suit and coat and I went around the block to the solemn 8 a.m. Mass rather than wait for the more festive 10:30 and walked through the bitter Minnesota cold into St. Mark’s Cathedral where a couple dozen souls sat, widely spaced apart, perhaps to guard against communicable disease, or maybe to avoid the Exchange of Peace after the absolution of our sins.
