The Battle by the Border for girls basketball took place at the Falls High Gym Jan. 30 as the Broncos hosted the Vikings. International Falls went on a 13-0 run early in the game to take the lead away from Littlefork-Big Falls and then added a 12-0 run to lead the game 42-19 at the half.
On Friday night, the Littlefork-Big Falls boys basketball team hosted 12-3 Ely. The game was close early with the Vikings holding a 10-9 lead four minutes in. The Timberwolves started to advantage with their press which led to a run late in the first half to give Ely a 39-23 lead at the break.
The Bronco girls hockey team played Hibbing- Chisholm on the road Monday to open the final week of the regular season. The Bluejackets scored twice in the first period, three times in the second, and two more time in the third as they shutout the Broncos 7-0. Mara Pelland made 48 saves for the Falls who play their final regular season game on Feb. 3.
