HISTORY with Mike Hanson

Joe Mannausau During Joe’s introduction to school, most schools only taught up to the eighth grade and according to him, that was as far as most kids got and anyone that went on had to go to a larger community, find a place to stay and pay board and room. For many it was unaffordable.

Looking Back

The WSI was 23 last year at the same time, and 20 two years ago, reports Swendsen. The average WSI for this date is about 51. The snow depth across Koochiching County is 12-16 inches, he reports. The snow depth is less than 15 inches across the southern and western part of the county, he said. “Our official measuring spot is still slightly more than 15 inches,” he wrote.

Workforce services moves downtown

Access to programs and services essential to workforce, community, and economic development in Koochiching County should improve with the relocation of Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training and Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, Career-Force Proud Partners to downtown International Falls. The location change from Minnesota North – Rainy River Campus situates JET and AEOA in the heart of downtown International Falls and encompasses two primary spaces, in addition to a variety of other access points for those in needs of services.
