Kick off

The Mother Pluckers - Darcy Sullivan, RaeAnn Conat, Kari Oustad Miggins and Jennifer Baker – helped Saturday to kick off The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign at Super One Grocery. Manning the red kettle was Bev Mayfield, local Salvation Army envoy, and Lori Herrly, social services and Angel Tree program coordinator for the local Salvation Army. The campaign is the largest fundraiser for the organization, which assists local people with basic needs. Volunteer to ring at https://www.registertoring. com/

The Rainy River women’s basketball team opened its 22-23 season Tuesday, Nov. 13, at home with a non-conference game against North Division rival Itasca.

Warm gift

St. Thomas Aquinas School students got a little warmer with a gift from Michigan. Instructor Ms. Pierce’s sister crocheted mittens and neck warmers for our second-grade students. They were shared with preschooler and kindergarteners.

Being grateful

We’ve launched into the holiday season with family and community get-togethers and celebrations. We urge all to make it a safe holiday season for everyone by thinking ahead about designated drivers and taxis if you’re lifting a glass in cheers or a skol.

Thanks to a young duck hunter’s gift for this old duck hunter, old duck hunter with long-term bride once again enjoyed a simple mallard duck meal, stirring memories of grand waterfowl adventures past.
