Make fitness more fun and engaging

Resolutions to get in shape are popular at the dawn of a new year. Despite the best and most detailed intentions, many resolutions fall by the wayside. Many people stop heading to the gym or working out at home because their exercise routines become stale. By making fitness more engaging and fun, individuals may be more likely to stick with a new regimen.

Lessons on humanity

Thousands of small orange and purple ribbons are tied to the fence between the Falls High School track and Highway 11-71. The orange ribbons represent the more than 7,000 people who are affected by hunger and the purple, the 288 people known to experience homelessness in Koochiching County.

Freddy Valentine, 16, and his grandfather Jack Valentine posed with Freddy’s 10-point buck, which weighed 180 pounds, dressed. Freddy harvested the deer at 3:30 p.m.

Ecklund will seek recount

When a voter wonders just how much one vote matters in an election, ask Rob Ecklund and Roger Skraba. Ecklund, a DFLer who has represented Minnesota House District 3A for seven years, lost his bid last week for reelection by just 15 votes.

Bronco swimming

The International Falls girls swimming and diving team wrapped up its season on Saturday at the Section 7A Championships in Hibbing. Top individual finishes for the Broncos belong to Keiren Ford in diving and Jillian Bilben in the 50 Free as they finished sixth.

15 years ago The Evangelical Covenant Church would like to thank the community for generously supporting and attending the Backus/AB Roof Fundraiser held November 13. A total of $2,405 was raised to help preserve these historic buildings… Teddy and Christina Saxton announce the birth of Madalynn Rose, 8 pounds, 3 ounces, 20 ½” born November 10… Kimberly Brown, of International Falls, is a member of the Bemidji State University chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma national scholastic society… Mikel Johnson, of International Falls, is a graduate assistant at Bemidji State University for the 2007-2008 school year.
