Looking Back

15 years ago After an 8-and-0 regular season and a 3-0 run through the Section 7 Tournament, the Littlefork-Big Falls Viking football team entered the quarterfinals of the Minnesota 9-Man State Tournament in Duluth on Friday with a perfect record. That record was ended with a 12-6 loss to the Waubun Bombers at Public School Stadium. “I am proud of our guys,” said Vikings head coach Derek Bilben. “They did everything I asked all year.” Community members cheered on the team at a pre-game pep fest at the school, and the team bus was escorted out of town by the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Department and the Littlefork Fire Department.

CO Reports

Enforcement action was taken for hunting over bait, no license in personal possession, recreational feeding deer in a prohibited county, and transporting loaded firearm. Animal complaints were also handled throughout the week.

ASK A TROOPER

Question: When I come across a cattle crossing sign in the road, does that mean I yield to the farmer crossing his cattle similar to a pedestrian crossing sign? Answer: If you come across anyone crossing the road you would need to yield. It’s always important to scan the road ahead for pedestrians and hazards.

The season of fall is named after a guy who first noticed the temperature dropping and, for some reason, coincidentally, was always dropping stuff. And, in another pretty big coincidence, his name was Fall.
