Lift bridge project poses questions

As equipment has rolls into Ranier toward the rail lift bridge, members of the International Rainy Lake of the Woods Watershed Board said they appreciate the concerns voiced in a letter received about potential bridge modifications and how those modifications could affect the flow of water in vicinity of the bridge. Advisory support to the board Karl Jansen, Scott Jutila and Abby Moore stopped in Ranier for a quick talk with the Gazette editor Tuesday on their way to Kenora and Morrison to discuss flood impacts there. The board members said this week the letter sent by the Ranier City Council about the Canadian National Railway’s lift bridge in Ranier was shared with the International Joint Commission.
