Ranier: Review of project needed

The Ranier City Council last month agreed to support the Rainy Lake Property Owners Association request to the International Joint Commission to ensure that Canadian National Railway lift bridge project does not further impede the outflow of Rainy Lake into Rainy River. The council’s action Aug. 23 followed a presentation to its council committee Aug. 16 by Dan Viellieux, Tom Dougherty and Jeff Kantor, of the association, about the outflow at Ranier. They said the bridge project could further restrict flow, adding to flooding concerns in the future.
