Ten high school female writers, mostly from the International Falls and Littlefork area, recently attended a writers’ camp with authors Mary Casanova and Margie Preus, along with camp leaders Lynn McGrane and Heather Cavalier.
The midway at the 100th Northern Minnesota District Fair in Littlefork was lit up Saturday evening, and activities were in full play during the weekend, including a horse show on Saturday. Members of the Littlefork Saddle Club held a show on Saturday. PHOTOS BY BEN SUNNE

By Evie Conat, camper Before I went to this camp, I had never really shared my poetry or writing with anyone. After I got to the camp, I immediately came out of my shell and fell in love with my surroundings at the camp.
Canada’s Remote Area Border Crossing program is to resume sometime in July, the Canada Border Services Agency reports. However, when it will be resumed is not yet known, and the CBSA’s website July 11 said more information will be provided there when the program resumes.

Voyageurs National Park lifted temporary closures of the Rainy Lake Visitor Center boat launch Friday, July 8, followed by 19 Rainy Lake campsites reopening the next day, Other Rainy Lake campsites in the park remain closed due to flood conditions.
