A presentation on youth vaping to the Falls School Board in April offered ideas for solutions and resources to help students addicted to nicotine. Taylour Blakeman, American Lung Association, presented the information on behalf of KAPE, Koochiching Area Prevention in Education, told the board 15 tobacco violations involving vaping devices occurred at Falls High School this past school year.
The Rainy River Community College’s Dean’s List for Spring semester 2022 has been announced by Director of Operations Bradley Krasaway. Students who receive this honor earned a grade point average of 3.25 or higher for the semester in college courses and carried at least 12 credits. The students listed with an asterisk before their names achieved a 4.00 grade point average.

Nature’s anglers, these American white pelicans are fishing in the shallow, but quick current of Rainy River. Both male and female pelican develop a knob on their beak before the breeding season, a sign of the birds sexual maturity. American while pelicans are a monogamous species, and most likely pair each year on their breeding grounds. Both males and females take turns to continuously incubate and guard the eggs until they hatch, usually about 30 days later. PHOTOS BY BEN SUNNE
The most overlooked vegetable that I know of is Kohlrabi. I seldom see it on the seed racks of our local stores so you will probably have to look for it in seed catalogs. Lucky for us, seed catalogs are all on-line.
