Caution urged with impersonators

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office received a report last week from a Hubbard County resident reporting they received a call from someone claiming to a Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office employee.

VNP extends closures; stops portage service

All backcountry closures and some frontcountry campsite closures have been extended through June 20, Voyageurs National Park officials report Friday, May 27. The likelihood is that closures may be further extended based on conditions as that date approaches, and other closures/restrictions may be defined, staff reported.

Main Street program to award funds

Koochiching and other northeastern counties and Native nations are included in the state’s Main Street Economic Revitalization Program. The Department of Employment and Economic Development announced grantee partners for the second round of the Main Street Economic Revitalization Program.

Indus celebrates

A full house and program at Indus School May 19 helped celebrate kindergarten graduation and first grade step-up. Entering the program to “Pomp and Circumstance,” the students sang several songs with themes from what they have been learning about throughout the school year, reported Soren Olesen, instructor.

Summer Reading for 2022 is “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” and challenges us all to look beyond our borders, expand our horizons and explore the outside. Summer programming will run from Monday, June 6th to Friday, August 12th. Ask your kids if they got a summer reading booklet from their teachers or stop by the library beginning Monday, June 6th to pick up a copy.

Media scholarship
