@ Your Library

Summer can be a great time to explore new learning opportunities and show your kids that learning isn’t something that just happens the first eighteen years of life. The library has a variety of books to help you explore learning a new language, musical instrument or how to code just as a few of the possibilities. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Borrow one of our books about dog training and see if you and your dog can learn together.

Violet’s Floyd

Chapter 12 One day Floyd’s dad Orrah was tending traps when he came upon a set and all he could see was the tip of a bear’s nose; the bear jumped up and Orrah instinctively shot. The bear was only stunned because the bullet ran up along the skull but didn’t penetrate it and it was then that his dad saw that it was only a cub and he had caught it in a wolf trap by the nose.

Set the hook!

M.T. Stringer has returned after a winter hiatus from the local fishing report. String reports that fishing Kettle River on opening day is one of Rainy Lake’s top fishing couples, Joel Pagnac and Jennifer French in the Ranger. They went head-tohead with Brian “Bro” Brosdahl and his wife, pictured in their Lund in the background. Both boats filled up by 10 a.m. (Word has it that the out of towners filled up first, possibly because they had professional netter Jeff Hamilton in their boat.) Lots of float planes in the air this week. Nothing represents the wilderness more than the sight of a float plane, perhaps on its way to that secret lake to catch big fish and lots of them.
