Three International Falls sixth graders, MacKenzie Minnick, Teagan Rosseau, and Aubrey Eide, have ad vanced to the Minnesota Elks North District essay competition through the Grand Lodge Americanism Program.

Bragg recognized with service award

Molly Bragg, compliance specialist at Border Bank in International Falls, was selected as the recipient of the 2021 Cultivate Service Award. She was recognized at an all-staff meeting this week for her exceptional service provided to teammates and customers.

DNR: Do not import live crayfish

As Minnesota resorts, restaurants and community groups start planning their annual crawfish boils, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources cautions it is illegal to import live crayfish and to release nonnative crayfish into the wild.

25 years ago Internet access at the International Falls Public Library may be behind schedule, but it, along with other improvements in library technology, is being slowly implemented. Recently, the Falls library received the Internet component, but won’t be offering it to patrons for a couple of months yet, librarian Janet Ronnbeck said.

March, Mars and the equinox

As its namesake month begins, Mars glimmers below brilliant Venus in the predawn sky. To the right (south) of the planets sits the Teapot of Sagittarius, while the curved Teaspoon of stars hangs above and between the Teapot and the planets. Moving south again, look for the sinuous form of Scorpius and its red heart, Antares.
