March, Mars and the equinox

As its namesake month begins, Mars glimmers below brilliant Venus in the predawn sky. To the right (south) of the planets sits the Teapot of Sagittarius, while the curved Teaspoon of stars hangs above and between the Teapot and the planets. Moving south again, look for the sinuous form of Scorpius and its red heart, Antares.

Study seeks increased in-state golden shiner production

The University of Minnesota Sea Grant Program and partners are investigating new strategies for increasing in-state production of Golden Shiner for Minnesota’s bait industry. The project is supported by a three-year $188,000 grant from the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources.

CO Report International Falls

District 5 - Eveleth area Monday CO Darrin Kittelson (Int’l Falls #1) reports snowmobiling and ice fishing activities continue to be the main focus in the area, however participation has been slow with the frigid weather. A youth snowmobile safety class was held with 18 area youth getting their safety certificates.

Bronco girls basketball

The Bronco girls basketball team hosted Roseau Monday. The game was tied at 32 at the half, but the second half belonged to the Rams as they defeated the Falls 66-48. Maddie Lowe led the Broncos with 18 points and Gracie Swenson added 13. Compiled by KGHS/KSDM Radio.
