Because conservation practices are important in protecting Minnesota’s land and water resources, local efforts were recognized recently by the Koochiching Soil and Water Conservation District. Each year, the state’s SWCDs recognize individuals and organizations for outstanding accomplishments in implementing conservation practices and improving Minnesota’s natural resources.
Fortuitous finding last week brought “Timber Connections—The Joyce Lumber Story”. This old adventurer with paper mill experience had some historical knowledge of logging camps between Highway #2 and Rainy River but this book provided much more.

Essentia Health has joined a nationwide study to evaluate repurposed medications in the search for effective, safe treatments for mild-to-moderate COVID-19. Repurposed medications are those already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for other indications.
