Indus School closure hearing draws many

A semi-truck parked at the entry to the Indus School Monday gave an indication of the amount of support that would be inside to urge reconsideration of action by the South Koochiching-Rainy River School Board to close the school. The support is also shown along the highway with dozens of “Save Our School” signs posted a residences along Highway 11.

Comment sought on frozen lake-use plan

To align park activities with established regulations and policies, while accommodating traditional access and activities to the extent feasible, the National Park Service is seeking input as it develops a Frozen Lake Surface Access and Use Plan at Voyageurs National Park. The public comment period for this process will be open through May 3.
