Chamber develops resource guide

A comprehensive area resource guide for all Borderland area businesses, organizations, government agencies and local resources is being developed by the International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.The printed guides will include information on large and small businesses, and public and private organizations – regardless of chamber membership.“All organizations are encouraged to submit their information,” said Shannon Arnold, chamber administrator.

RLMC: Update on plan

A new clinic and hospital planned for property owned by Rainy Lake Medical Center between Rainy River and Highway 11 east was discussed at the Koochiching Economic Development Authority Board.Rainy Lake Medical Center CEO Robb Pastor brought the board up to date on plans for the facility he has said should take the community into the next 50 years and help recruit both doctors and residents to the area.He said he and the board envision the site as being a destination medical campus for the region.He said last week architects were there, going through design phase,” he said.The plan for a new facility was prompted for a need for space for parking, expansion and new providers.“A lot of great things happening,” Pastor said.

Age-friendly business program launched

The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging has launched the Age-Friendly Arrowhead Business Program, aimed at promoting inclusivity and addressing the needs of older adults in the seven-county Arrowhead Region.Nominations are now open for the Aging Impact Awards, recognizing businesses and community organizations that have significantly contributed to the well-being of older adults.Nominations for the Aging Impact Awards are accepted through March 22.

New owners plan remodel at DQ

Bethany Sandwick and Garrett Berg are the new owners of Dairy Queen in International Falls.The summer may bring a grand reopening, but no date is set yet, she said.The couple has owned the Dairy Queen in Warroad for just more than 2 years.In those years, the couple has got to know different owners throughout the franchise, including Todd and Rhonda Josephson, who owned the Falls DQ.

HMG Consulting Services, LLC., a healthcare company started by an International Falls native, is rebranding to Compass340B.Teri Hart, originally from International Falls, started the company, which offers a fleet of services and technologies that support 340B stakeholders in achieving their 340B program performance and compliance goals, a news report said.Congress created the 340B Drug Pricing Program in 1992 to protect safety-net hospitals from escalating drug prices by allowing them to purchase outpatient drugs at a discount from manufacturers, said the Association of American Medical Colleges.Hart is president and principal consultant, the company’s website said: She has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, technology, and science fields.
