The year just keeps chugging along. Here we are past the middle of June. I have done some reading this year, but I think I’ve added more titles to my “to read” list than my ‘read’ list. But that is what tends to happen every year. I would love for magic to exist and to be able to create an extra two-hour block of the day that no one knew existed and I could just read.

Summer reading is here! Hope you caught our first week of programming with plenty more to come. The best part of all is that kids can earn up to eight free books this summer thanks to an unexpected donation from United Way.

The school year is almost over and summer is just around the corner. That means it is time to visit the public library and stock up for summer reading. I doubt anyone will argue that it has been a rough couple of years, so let’s all work together to support our youth and help them this summer have fun as well as learn and grow. The library has lots planned for summer (more on that next week).

Summer can be a great time to explore new learning opportunities and show your kids that learning isn’t something that just happens the first eighteen years of life. The library has a variety of books to help you explore learning a new language, musical instrument or how to code just as a few of the possibilities. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? Borrow one of our books about dog training and see if you and your dog can learn together.

Welcome May! I am so excited for this month. The weather is warmer, but not hot yet and usually not too much precipitation. It is also when I can really begin to read on our porch. It is enclosed and faces south, so it is usually a wonderful spot to bask in the sun and read.

It is Earth Day! Take time to appreciate the place you live. Get outside for a walk, a bike ride or start some seeds indoors to plant outside later.

It is mid-April, the weather has been slowly warming allowing the most snow we have gotten in years to slowly melt. While I might be more than ready for things to start growing, I do appreciate the slow melt for allowing water to soak into the ground and not puddle quite as much. Tax season is just about over (I’ve submitted mine and hope you have gotten yours in as well) and it is time to look forward to warm, sunny days.
