Last week at the Rotary Club of International Falls club meeting, board member Brad Krasway oversaw the program and spoke about his role as director of operations at Minnesota North College – Rainy River Campus.Krasaway reported that enrollment at Rainy River Campus is up by about 43 students.

A new start

The wood “shell” of the Irving “Pete” Peterson Bandshell was demolished by International Falls early Monday.The concrete base remains at the site in Smokey Bear Park.The demolition took some by surprise, but city Public Works Director Ted Brokaw said timelines changed frequently for the work.The bandshell was destroyed in a fire April 7.City councilors have said there will be a bandshell in Smokey Bear Park on the site, but designs are still being drawn.

Last week at the Rotary Club of International Falls club meeting, club member Kari Oustad Helleloid oversaw the program and invited Linnea Imhof, health educator for Koochiching County Public Health and Human Services, to speak.Imhof spoke of her history and how she came to the community and said that her passion was to “give back to the community at a greater level.”She highlighted the different services available at Koochiching County Public Health and Human Services, including, among others, foot care, the family nurse home visit program and lactation support, and water testing.Imhof noted that a recent community needs assessment for the county highlighted the lack of services for mental health in the county.
