Ken Krueger may be known for ice, snow and cold as the co-director of the Arrowhead 135 extreme race that starts in International Falls each January.But it was warm and dry where he spent his July vacation: Biking 2,417 miles of the 3,100-mile Great Divide Mountain Bike Route trail between Canada and Mexico.He cycled, some in 98-degree heat, the world’s longest mapped, off-pavement cycling route, where water stops are sometimes 70 miles apart.“So, it’s not everybody’s idea of a vacation,” he said laughing.But it is his.“It’s the super challenge, the scenery, and the memories of the super nice people,” that drive him, he said.
