The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reports that for the 11th year in a row, Minnesota's moose population of 3,440-6,780 animals remains stable. Although there is no statistically significant change in the estimated population relative to the last population survey, this year's estimated number of moose is the highest since 2011, when the population was midway through a steep decline.

15 years ago The city of International Falls is facing off with Fraser, Colorado, officials again over the right to use the trademark “Ice Box of the Nation,” filing a countersuit to a lawsuit filed by Fraser. Fraser officials say their town has used the phrase since 1956, while their counterparts in International Falls say they’ve used it since 1948.
