Indus homecoming

It was homecoming week at Indus School this past week. Every day had a different theme and there were activities such as an Ice-cream eating contest, mat-ball, volleyball against the teachers, fun games like tug-of-war, balloon popping, Hula-hoop games and a dodge-ball tournament, reports instructor Soren Olesen.

Fire safety

Austin Hasbargen from the Birchdale Fire Department brought a fire truck to the Indus School Oct. 12 and talked about fire safety with elementary and preschool students. He’s showed them all the fire equipment on the truck like the jaws-oflife and he also talked about the importance of smoke alarms and of having a plan at home in case of a fire.

Campus Preview Day at RR

Interested students can attend Campus Preview Day at Minnesota North College – Rainy River Campus. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, students have the opportunity to learn about academic programs, transfer options, and careers. They will have the opportunity to meet instructors, students, and staff, tour campus, and get the scoop on preparing for college. The schedule is: 9:30 a.m. – check-in; 10 a.m. – check-in; 11 a.m. - lunch; 11:30 a.m. - housing tours; 11:45 a.m. - program tours.

Hands-on science

Indus anatomy and physiology students studied part of a goat skeleton brought in by high school science teacher Tom Vandame. The students got to examine how a goat’s skeleton is similar to a human’s and were able to better understand the body parts they were learning about in class.

Fish fundraiser

The Activities Program at Falls High School got a boost last week, thanks to supporters of the Purple Pride Fish Fry fundraiser. “The third annual Purple Pride Fish Fry was a huge success as over 400 fish baskets were served,” said Gordy Dault, Purple Pride chair and one of the official fish friers Thursday, July 14.
