4-H youth showcase a year of learning

Every summer, tens of thousands of 4-H youth participate in county fairs to showcase the knowledge and skills they’ve gained throughout the year, and to continue their learning experiences. The Koochiching County 4-H youth members recently had their opportunity to showcase their projects at the Northern Minnesota District Fair in Littlefork.

FES Birthday Bookshelf

August members have been added to the Birthday Bookshelf Club, which assist the book fund at Falls Elementary School. Vaping and enforcement

A presentation on youth vaping to the Falls School Board in April offered ideas for solutions and resources to help students addicted to nicotine. Taylour Blakeman, American Lung Association, presented the information on behalf of KAPE, Koochiching Area Prevention in Education, told the board 15 tobacco violations involving vaping devices occurred at Falls High School this past school year.

RRCC announces Dean’s List

The Rainy River Community College’s Dean’s List for Spring semester 2022 has been announced by Director of Operations Bradley Krasaway. Students who receive this honor earned a grade point average of 3.25 or higher for the semester in college courses and carried at least 12 credits. The students listed with an asterisk before their names achieved a 4.00 grade point average.

FES Birthday Bookshelf

Local students recognized

Three Falls High School graduates have been awarded the Leonard J. Kucera Memorial Scholarship, Bronko Nagurski Education Scholarship and Sons of Norway – Vinland Lodge 1-193 Scholarship, Northwest Minnesota Foundation has announced.

FHS team: Quiz Bowl Champs

A team from Falls High School won this year’s annual Lester “Jack” Briggs Regional High School Quiz Bowl Championship May 20. FHS senior Brian Pearson and freshman Khia Porter and Alaina Gates won the day-long competition that tests high school students’ knowledge of Ojibwe language, culture, and history.
