To the editor, Thank you for your coverage of the Indus School closure in the April 7 edition. However, I assume the Jean Hasbargen you mentioned is in reality Jennifer, an Indus graduate and our past Koochiching County attorney.
To the editor, On March 6, information about an upcoming School District 363 school board meeting was distributed to students and faculty at Indus school. This meeting was to be held at Indus School two days later on March 8.
To the editor, I am intrigued by Republican consistency on Social Security and Medicare. First, I do praise former President Trump for refusing GOP requests to cut these programs.
To the citizens of Koochiching County: My taxes are going up 79 percent this year. The part I like is the fact that I must pay the Rural Fire Protection Association fire fees of $90 annually, yet the county does not plow my road in the winter, I must plow it or the fire trucks couldn’t get to my home to fight the fire.
I am tired. I am tired of our politicians campaigning against something rather than for something.
To the editor, Koochiching County has good people living here. We help each other out. We show up for benefits for war victims, fire victims, cancer victims, you name it. We take in our neighbors’ mail, help out when their snowblower breaks down. We share our love of Rainy Lake, of family and sports and quilting and crafts, of hunting and fishing and going to our shacks. Sure we have differences of opinions, BUT WE DON’T LIE.
To the editor, Minnesota’s largest police association, representing over 10,000 rank and file law enforcement officers, enthusiastically supports Andrea Zupancich for Senate. She will always promote public safety proposals that keep communities safe. Rising crime is a statewide problem, and we MUST restore public safety in our communities. That starts with respecting police as partners and holding violent criminals accountable. Zupancich will make sure our public safety officials have the support, resources, and policies that provide for a safer, stronger community for everyone.
Many legislators try to get away with paying lip service to veterans. Others will actually take time to listen to what would help veterans in our state. But Rep. Rob Ecklund is the real deal, championing solutions regarding housing, mental health, economic security, and so much more for those who’ve served the United States of America. Given he himself has served in the U.S. Marine Corps, his deep dedication to vets shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. During a time of wide divisions at both the state and U.S. Capitols, Rob has been able to cut through the partisanship, acrimony, and rhetoric to get things done. Everyone deserves a place to call home, and veterans’ homelessness is one of the most persistent problems we’ve worked to address. Rep. Ecklund successfully advanced historic investments this past session to address housing emergencies, short-term housing difficulties, and long-term pathways to a stable home for veterans. As a result, we will be in a better position than ever to end veterans’ homelessness in Minnesota.
Through my participation with the Minnesota Timber Producers Association, I’ve had the opportunity to work with Rob Ecklund throughout his seven years in the Legislature. Before being elected, he was also active in advocating for our industry through his work with the Wood Fiber Joint Legislative Council.
