Local officials watch, plan

With weather forecasts this week for Borderland showing less precipitation than elsewhere in northern Minnesota, risks for flooding may be lessening. But that could change should the area receive more precipitation, and residents where were flooding has occurred before should take actions now to minimize damage should flooding occur.

Grim, KCHS, Hardee’s recognized

The International Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its annual awards with a ceremony and banquet April 27. This year’s recipients of the awards are Citizen of the Year, Lee Grim; Small Business of the Year, Koochiching County Historical Society; Large Business of the Year, Hardee’s.

Project seeks to use EB5 program

Work continues to develop a warehouse logistics facility, with a recent effort at making overseas investment a part of the project. Paul Nevanen, Koochiching Economic Development Authority director, told the KEDA Board last month that he’s speaking with Felix Asemota, president of Onesimus Management Group LLC, on a daily basis about the project planned for the multi-modal district east of International Falls.

County election

Newcomer Adam McIntyre will take the Koochiching County Commissioner District 3 seat after drawing 74 votes Tuesday to Brian McBride’s 34 votes in a special election. The election drew a total of 108 votes from county residents in the district, which covers people in the International Falls East Ward and the Ranier-West Precinct.
