County board handles variety of items

LBeager@cherryroad.com The Koochiching County Board Tuesday handled a variety of issues during its regular meeting. In addition, commissioners met Tuesday as the Koochiching Development Authority Board and approved the sale of about 20 acres of land for $1,000, the certified appraisal of the property, within the Northome Industrial Site to Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Q & A about school hunger

A meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Falls High School will bring people together to discuss hunger in the schools. The Gazette asked Ashley Hall, executive director of the Falls Hunger Coalition, and Falls School Superintendent Kevin Grover about the meeting.

Ranier Days

Revelers filled the sunsoaked streets of Ranier this past Saturday for Ranier Days 2022. The parade theme “Under the Sea” brought out the pirate in many, among mermaids and other sea creatures in the pooch, kiddie and main parade.

Council moves on water plant bonds

International Falls moved forward Monday with the sale of $772,000 of temporary general obligation water bonds to pay for rehabilitation of the water treatment plant. Mike Bubany, David Brown Associates, Inc., discussed the bond issues and sale with the council Monday, and explained the process of applying for a loan from the Minnesota Rural Water Association to pay engineering costs for the rehabilitation project.
