Ranier bridge project focus of request
The Koochiching County Board will Aug. 9 consider sending a letter to the International Joint Commission asking it to apply guidance to Canadian National Railway’s project to add additional tracks in Ranier. The request follows months of flooding on the Rainy Lake and Rainy River.

Bakk receives CGMC Legacy Award
Minnesota Sen. Thomas Bakk received the Tim Flaherty Legacy Award from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities last week during the Coalition’s three-day summer conference in Red Wing.

Burglary
The Koochiching County Attorney’s Office is reviewing evidence in a July 26 burglary at Super One grocery store, International Falls. A suspect forced their way into the store through a backdoor when the store was closed in the early morning hours of July 26, said Mitch Lessard, Falls Police deputy chief.
