The frantic feeling of the community seems to have subsided a bit, along with the level of Rainy Lake slowly decreases. At this writing, the level of Rainy Lake is about at the 1950 flood level, now a previous record high level.
The International Falls City Council Monday adopted the Minnesota Uniform Fire Code, which lays out the rules and regulations associated with having a recreational fire in the city limits. Some residents may be surprised to find out they don’t have a lot large enough to have to accommodate some of the requirements: • The fire must be located on the owner’s own property and a minimum of 25 feet from all property lines; • Recreational fires shall not be constructed within 25 feet of any structure.
Ranier City Council discussed flood issues at its committee meeting June 14. The regular meeting is scheduled for this week.
