Deer feeding ban details

CWD is a contagious neurological disease that affects cervids – deer, elk, moose, reindeer and caribou. There is no cure or vaccine, and the disease always is fatal. It causes the brain of the infected animal to deteriorate, which eventually results in emaciation, abnormal behavior, loss of bodily functions and death. CWD is a prion disease and is in the same family as bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease), scrapie (sheep) and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (humans).

Icy Icebox

Traditional events drew people to Icebox Days, Borderland’s annual frozen frolic, this past weekend. Temperatures hovered in the teens above zero, but wind chills kept it feeling like zero. Kids and adults donned 2x4s for Smoosh Races downtown, and prizes were given out during Turkey Bowling, in a downtown parking lot. Boot hockey brought a few teams to the Ranier Rink. FRIDAY, JANUARY 21 15 YEARS AGO The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs women’s hockey team beat Michigan Tech Huskies by a combined score of 21-2 in two games here. In the first game the Voyageurs beat the Huskies 10-2 in Bronco Arena.
