The Minnesota Department of Education launched a public feedback portal at education.mn.gov for parents, students, teachers, and community members to submit detailed accounts of the ways recent executive orders and abrupt federal education cuts are impacting schools and children across our state.

Border Bank and the local Knights of Columbus again teamed up to recognize the community’s assistance in their efforts to raise funds for the local food shelf, which is seeing rising and historic use these days.

Frank Bowman was the first to ride a bicycle across the Crane Lake portage. It was in the fall of 1896. He reported the portage, 27-miles long, “personalized discomfort.” The Rainy Lake Journal reported that he beat the stage team that was following him by several hours though he testified he did not try to hurry.
