NEARLY NORTH OF TWO: CAPITOL COMMOTION II (A)

This commotion began more than 17 months ago when our Washington DC Capitol of our somewhat united States was violently assaulted with intent to overturn democratic election results (journal entry Jan. 8, 2021). Last week a special Congressional House of Representatives investigative “Select Committee” presented its introduction to its more comprehensive reporting expected in about a half-dozen additional televised presentations beginning this week. According to some recognized national thinkers, this stuff is bigger than 1973’s Watergate hearings.

NEARLY NORTH OF TWO: MAJESTIC SUMMER

We’re bumping up against June’s Summer Solstice following long Winter and short Spring. This old adventurer and his longterm bride, sweetheart and best friend are seeing their first summer season develop here at Majestic Pines, their comprehensive senior camp since September of last year, nearly North of Highway #2 in this fine city at once-grand rapids of dandy river Mississippi.

A driveway from Mal Bay Road to Big Bass Lake displays historic signage announcing “Est. 1979”, “Idaho Avenue” and family name routed onto Moose horn found near Babine River’s “Rainbow Alley”, British Columbia. “Idaho Avenue” street sign, scavenged by young truant son decades ago far from Highway #2, reflects some 35 years of fulltime Idaho residence with longer family ties to our Northland here since the early ‘50’s.

On the heels of recent rough weather and on the eve of fishing opener, our Good Lord and good community made a good day for a good man and his family - Tom ‘Mr. D’ Drazenovich Field Dedication took place, just North of Highway #2 here at those oncegrand rapids of our dandy river Mississippi.

NEARLY NORTH OF TWO: TURKEY TALKING

Old adventurer travelled far South of Highway 2 last week, far from our Edge of the Wilderness, for a quick hometown visit in the Minnesota River Valley; in addition, a longer St. Croix River Valley turkey hunt visit with former college roommate from our small nearby hometowns of nearly 60 years ago. That respected engineering-school roommate went on to become CEO of a successful company.
