Our View

Sunshine Week was launched in 2005 to emphasize how news outlets, and laws that protect our right to information, shine a light on government, making us more aware of the impact government decisions or indecision have on our lives.

It seems like it’s easier these days to post something to social media and hope for the best, rather than pick up the phone or sit down at a table to exchange information via human contact. It seems especially important to do that when it comes to our elected officials making decisions on projects and issues that affect the larger population.
