As our feline friends grow from kitten to an elderly adult they go through many changes, and we want to keep them as healthy and happy as long as we can. Today let’s go through some of those changes and what to watch for.

On a local hill after a fresh snowfall the sun comes out and an impromptu symphony takes place. Colored saucers of varying shapes and sizes are seen gliding along the snow, slowly making their way up and then quickly descending down the hill, frequently flipping and spinning in the air. Thick layers of clothing are seen doing the same, albeit the flipping and spinning with a little less altitude. And emanating from within those thick clothing garments the colorful and vibrant voices of children are heard, like a flock of snow geese riding and calling out over a northwest wind in the fall.
Our calendars now announce February, arguably the beginning of Winter’s downturn in our Northland regardless of what the groundhog sees. At least it helps us think that we’re on the backside of winter as we see more daylight each day.

Fire and Ambulance Chief Adam Mannausau reported on December activities in the department: no fire call outs, and one carbon monoxide alarm. There were 90 calls via 911 for ambulance service in December, compared to 86 in December 2020; and 29 facility transfers, compared to 54 in December 2020.
